Material 1.4542 / AISI 630 is a hardenable stainless steel with high yield strength, high wear resistance, and good corrosion resistance. As a remelted variant (ESU/VU), 1.4542 / AISI 630 is used in the aerospace industry.

Thanks to its good combination of high corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties, material 1.4542 / AISI 630 is suitable for use in maritime environments. However, in standing seawater, material 1.4542 / AISI 630 is susceptible to crevice corrosion (PREN = 15.0–18.9).
Material 1.4542 / AISI 630 can be machined in both solution-annealed and hardened states. The machinability of material 1.4542 / AISI 630 depends on its hardness.
Material 1.4542 / AISI 630 is suitable for low temperatures and can be used up to approx. 315°C.
